My name is Kailynn, and I am the proud owner of LOCAL Speech + Language Services. Growing up in Morden, Manitoba, I noticed the need for more accessible SLP services in rural areas for both children in our schools and adults in our community. After my own grandfather suffered a stroke, he faced multiple life-changing challenges including dysphagia (swallowing difficulties), vascular dementia, vision loss, and balance issues. I watched a once confident and independent man lose sight of himself and who he would always be to me. During those years, I wished for accessible resources in our rural community to help individuals confidently express themselves. This experience fueled my passion and commitment to bringing private SLP services to rural Manitobans. For over 20 years, it has been my dream to open a practice that provides the support and resources my grandfather and others like him needed.
I received my Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of North Dakota and am certified by SAC, CASLPM, CASLPO, and ASHA. I have provided skilled evaluation and intervention services to children, adults, and geriatric populations in inpatient and outpatient settings, schools, and private practices. I continue to seek additional training and growth opportunities, as I believe that ongoing professional development and lifelong learning is critical for providing high-quality clinical services.
